CFUW was founded in 1919. A number of clubs were formed in Alberta over the years; however, a club did not exist in Sherwood Park.   In 1988, a few dedicated local women brought together their energy, dedication and vision to form the Strathcona County CFUW Club.

For over 30 years, we have come together to

  • foster lifelong learning

  • advocate for issues of importance to women and families such as human rights and the environment, and

  • enjoy the friendship of like-minded women

We are a small club and we get involved in projects related to our mission, such as letter writing to MLAs and MPs or collecting PJs for the women staying at Safe Place or sewing for Days for Girls.  We also come together to have fun such as meeting up for lunch or a fireside chat or potlucks.  We support scholarships for women in post-secondary programs through contributions to the scholarship programs managed by CFUW Edmonton and the CFUW Charitable Trust.

We meet at 7:00 pm on the second Wednesday of each month from September to June.  Each meeting is composed of a business meeting and a guest speaker.  The guest speaker program is developed in May of each year by the membership.
