CFUW Alberta Council Centenary Scholarships

To celebrate the National Centenary, the CFUW Alberta Council funded 3 one-time scholarships of $2,000 each in 2019. These CFUW Alberta Council Centenary Scholarships were awarded to an Indigenous female student. There are 5 clubs in Alberta: Lethbridge, Calgary, Calgary North, Edmonton, and Strathcona County. The Universities chosen were University of Lethbridge, University of Calgary, and University of Alberta.

2019 ALBERTA COUNCIL CENTENARY SCHOLARSHIP AWARDEES
 

  • University of Lethbridge Awardee: The University of Lethbridge decided on the recipient in the summer for the fall 2019 semester.  CFUW Lethbridge and District were informed of the recipient.

  • University of Calgary Awardee: The University of Calgary graduate student awardee was Angie Tucker at the June 1st POW WOW at the University of Calgary on behalf of CFUW Calgary and Calgary North. she went on to be a PhD candidate in Native Studies at the U of Alberta.

  • University of Alberta Awardee: Asia Winter-Sinnott was presented with her scholarship award April 15th. Asia is from Na-Cho Nyak Dun First Nation and grew up in a community of 400 people in the Yukon. She is currently finishing up her 3rd year of the combined BA in Native Studies and BEd in Secondary Education degree with an Art teaching major at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Upon finishing her degree she plans to go back to her community and teach in the school so she can give back to her community and encourage other students to further their education. 

CFUW Club Bursaries and Scholarships

CFUW Lethbridge, CFUW Calgary, and CFUW Edmonton have bursaries and scholarships available to students of the University of Lethbridge, University of Calgary, and University of Alberta.
